Plug In Wall Sconces
Despite their substitution as the main form of permanent lighting in a house, scones continue to be used extensively in many houses.
There are several reasons why they are popular. First of all, if properly matched to the style of the house they look great and increase the look of the house. They also liven up walls that have nothing in them and that would otherwise be dull. Also, when appropriately sized, they can complement greatly other decorations on the walls, such as portraits, maps, dishes, etc, photographs, paintings.
While there are some sconces that still use candles, they aren’t very popular, since they are bothersome to light and they have to be supervised in order to avoid accidental fires. Therefore most people prefer the practicality and ease of use of sconces that are operated with electricity.
However, in order to use electricity, a sconce has to be wired to the electrical system of a house. This can be inconvenient depending on how the electricity is wired, the constitution of the walls, and the desired location of the sconce. In some cases, installing the sconce where one wanted in the first place turns out to be impossible due to the electrical installation.
That’s why some manufacturers came up with the plug in wall sconce. The plug in wall sconce doesn’t have to be wired to the electrical system of the house. It comes with a cord that is plugged to a socket on the wall, just like a TV or a DVD player.
A plug in wall sconce is convenient because it doesn’t need to be connected to the electrical system that’s behind the walls. And because of this, it can be placed anywhere. Even the length of the cord of a plug in wall sconce isn’t a limitation, since it can be plugged to an extension that would reach a socket.
Of course, you might be thinking that the cord of a plug in wall sconce would look bad. Well, that is only if you plan to leave it on plain sight. You can buy cord covers that will stick it to the wall, and then paint the covers of the same color of the wall. If the wall is simple, you can even cover it with tape and then paint it.
Most plug in wall sconces are convertible. That means that if later on, you want to integrate it to the electrical system of the house, you can do it. That will allow you to use a practical wall switch to turn the light on and off.
Finally, there are many models of plug in wall sconces. Some look modern, others look traditional, and yet others have themes, like Western or Irish. Getting a plug in wall sconce that you really like and goes well with your house style will really improve the place where you live.
